Thanks to the individuals and businesses that have generously donated to support us on this ride. We look forward to sharing our journey across our great country with everyone.

Why we're riding,

In September 2002 my older brother died of cancer. He went to the doctor for a checkup, was diagnosed with cancer and a year later he was gone. This disease does not discriminate and can hit anyone at anytime. My brother was an active, healthy and hard working man. Still this horrible disease took him from our family in a moment.

Bob loved everything about the outdoors...spending time with his family in the mountains of Colorado hiking, fishing and mountain biking.

My 13 year old son Nick only met his uncle one time when he was very young and doesn't really remember him.

I talked with Nick about doing something special on the 10 year anniversary of his uncle's passing and we made the decision to ride our bikes across America in his memory.

Bob's kids and wife still reside in Colorado and we look forward to having them join us on the Colorado portion of the ride. This will be a great opportunity to celebrate Bob's life in the environment he enjoyed the most...outdoors with his family.

I have wanted to ride my bike across the country since I was 12 years old. Bob was always my biggest supporter and motivator...telling me "you'll do it, just stick with it!"

Bob...this ride is for you! I know you'll be watching and cherring us on!

So what is this "beard thing" all about? I made an agreement with Nick that I will not be shaving my beard until our ride is completed. November 23, 2011 was the last time I shaved...at the end of our ride we will be celebrating with the shaving of my beard!

I hope this journey and website inspires you to step out of your comfort zone, to pursure your dreams whatever they may be and to enjoy everyday to the fullest with those closest to you!

God Bless...

“It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.”
